Kaw River Canoe Workshop Lawrence, Kansas 2016 & 2017

A Social Practice Art project that emphasizes the importance and shared nature of water resources. A call to action in considering how our behaviors impact on our environment.  Kaw River Canoe Workshop invited 12-16 participants to harvest bamboo poles from local groves,  lash them to canoe frameworks, and eventually skin the vessels with recycled grocery bags.  The workshop culminated in  floatillas of up to 8 canoes making their way a mile and a half down the Kaw River.  (see video below)
